- Fix significant performance drops in some missions (e.g. Novomykhailivka mission on the Mariinka map).
Obriy 0.10.1#
This version includes significant changes regarding drone interception, but it has not been thoroughly tested and currently has some issues. If stability is critical for you, we recommend waiting for the next release.
Radar and Situational Awareness
A radar marker can now be placed on the map. The radar tracks all airborne targets within a range of up to 25 km and adds them to the situational awareness system.
The minimap (situational awareness system) now includes additional features: displays tracks of airborne objects, unknown objects can be identified as friendly or hostile, objects can be labeled, the screen can be centered on selected objects.
Objects on the map are interactive and support both left and right mouse button interaction.
Situational awareness can be opened with M, or in a separate window using Shift + M.
Route Editor
Target routes can now be modified after creation. Special markers have been added for route points.
Airborne targets can change altitude during flight.
- Drag a route point with the left mouse button to reposition it.
- Right-click a route point to create a new point or delete the selected one.
In the dedicated route editor menu, route point parameters can be modified, such as: - Time the object waits at a location - Whether the object engages in firing.
Mission Conditions and Results
Missions now include completion conditions.
Friendly and hostile objects can be designated as mission objectives and must be protected or destroyed accordingly. At the end of a mission, results and statistics are displayed. The mission selection menu shows mission objectives and the best achieved result.
The conditions for winning a mission are: destroying all enemy targets, destroying a minimum number or all mission objectives (if any), surviving the required time if there are no enemy mission objectives.
Losing is: destroying all friendly targets that had to be defended, not destroying all enemy mission objectives within the allotted time.
New Drones Added
Interceptor Aircraft "Grim" – A model based on the real interceptor “VB-140 Bliskavka”. This is the third drone in the interceptor lineup designed to counter Shahed-type threats. Currently, it features the most realistic aerodynamics in Obriy. Aircraft control surfaces are animated and can be inspected by pressing B (return to front camera with F).
"Middle-Strike" Aircraft (In Development). The Middle-Strike aircraft can carry significantly more payload and reach higher speeds than the base Seeker Hunter aircraft. Its aerodynamics are still under development. The aircraft is not recommended for operational use at this time.
Slight adjustments to heavy bomber parameters.
Minor aerodynamic updates and PID tuning for Seeker Hunter.
Combat Prototype
Ground vehicles now engage each other and can destroy enemy units.
Situational awareness is not currently simulated for AI units.
If artillery is placed on the map, it may eliminate all hostile targets within minutes.
This may interfere with mission objectives where the player is expected to destroy targets personally.
Infantry currently does not interact with ground targets and cannot be targeted.
Friendly units can also be destroyed by hostile forces.

Obriy 0.9.1#
Shahed Interception
The old interceptor drone model was removed. Instead, two new multirotor interceptors were added - "Hornet" and "Kraken". Both aircraft are using aerofoil aerodynamics for flight and therefore can perform level flight even at a low throttle. To make an interceptor fly like a fixed-wing you need to select either a fixed camera with an angle of 90 degrees, or the servo camera with a range of up to +90 or +180 degrees. The flight controls are inverted in a fixed-wing mode. You can either change the controls universally in joystick setup menu, or create a new radio control profile which will inverse the controls with a switch. To invert the controls you need to swap yaw and roll and invert the yaw channel. The recommended munition for the interceptors is 800g HE. The recommended camera field of view is 110 degrees for a daylight camera and 60 degrees for a thermal one. The compass and the horizon are oriented according to a fixed-wing mode and won't work when in FPV orientation. The aerofoil critical angle of attack is close to 15 degrees. It might have sense to set PID sensitivity to 0.
Interceptor "Hornet"
This multirotor has small level wings which resemble a regular airplane. A banking turn is preferred for this model. Since the wings are small it is preferred to fly with an upward angle from +5 to +12 degrees. The camera is mounted below. A servo camera range of 0..+90 is advised. To counter the high upward angle during the flight you can rotate the camera up not by 90 degrees but by 80, so it will point right forward.
Interceptor "Kraken"
This multirotor has cruciform rocket-like wings. This drone can be turned just by using yaw (there is no need to bank when you have no level wings). It is advised to turn this drone upward by approximately +5 degrees in a level flight. The camera is mounted at the nose and can rotate from 0 to +180 degrees.
Fixed some problems with map downloading.
OSD horizon works correctly again.
Airspeed was added to OSD editor.
A dodge Shahed was added.
Aerial targets are no longer teleporting.
Fixed a few problems with OSD editor.
Fixed an issue when starting Obriy from the CLI.
The ruler button on the minimap can be focused now.
Fixed a case when ruler was placed incorrectly.
A large number of explosions is less prone to crash the program now.
Obriy 0.9.0#
OSD Editor
The on-screen display can now be changed in a separate menu. OSD can be changed only for FPV multirotors and fixed-wings, but not for gimbal camera drones. You can enter OSD editor menu from the main menu screen.
Fiber-optic
All types of drones can have a fiber-optic link now. It is available from the drone setup menu. The fiber-optic weight is 1kg per 10km. The weight of the spool will decrease accordingly, but the drag remains constant. It is possible to cut the fiber-optic by moving backwards. The link will degrade at a high altitude, but will return to normal when close to the ground. The link is permanently degraded after moving above water bodies.
Flight Mode Horizon
Horizon mode is available for FPV multirotors and is switched to when the flight mode channel is 50%. Each FPV multirotor is equipped with the Angle flight mode now, but it can be switched to the Altitude Hold. Previously the Alt Hold mode was unique for FPV10 bomber only.
Simple hostile SIGINT
Hostile video jammers will scan for radio emissions now and try to jam only once they recognize the drone signature. By using a radio repeater drone but flying very low you can mask your presence from hostile jammers - despite having your radio repeater drone clearly visible. Jammers are scanning the radio every 8 seconds and cease jamming once they lose the signal.

"Heavy Bomber" drone was added. It can carry up to 10kg payload.
Multirotors can now carry 4 bombs as well.
A new "Loiter" flight mode was added. Unlike true loiter this implementation attempts to hold zero velocity, which has mostly the same effect of negating the wind. In Loiter the drone will attempt to reach the target velocity and not the target angle, so in most cases the drone will fly slower.

Graphics update.
Antialiasing mode is changed depending on texture quality set. The framerate increase at low settings is nearly 10%. The world generates faster and uses less resources to update as well. Land vehicles no longer interact with the world when are far away, therefore distant targets use significantly less resources.
A new payload "shotgun" was added.
Shotgun has only one charge (unless the payload quantity is set to infinite). The shot velocity is simulated to be 300 meter per second. Shotgun ignores the fuse option and uses it is own mode to fire.

Obriy 0.7.1#
Video memory usage was reduced by approximately 30-40%, frame rate increased by 10-20%.
Added multiplayer. Multiplayer is in active development, is not stable, and is not fully completed. A protocol designed for military simulation is used for multiplayer, providing both strong advantages and disadvantages, which are especially noticeable compared to regular games. To use multiplayer, please read the relevant article in the manual first.
Terrain now functions much more efficiently and significantly better. The horizon visibility limit has been removed: on high settings, the entire map can be seen at once, and the whole map will render correctly. Previously, the map was accurate only within a 2.5 km range, making high-altitude missions suboptimal.
The atmosphere has been reworked. Clouds now have a spherical shape around the Earth. Separate low clouds at altitudes up to 2 km and high clouds at 12-14 km have been added. Clouds, in general, now more closely resemble real clouds (cumulus, cirrus, stratus, nimbostratus). At altitudes above the clouds, the horizon is now visible. Fog no longer obscures the horizon as it did before.
Added the Kurakhove and Konstantynopil maps. Removed the LoC from Vuhledar, Maryinka, and Bakhmut maps. Added a new mission on the Kinburn Peninsula map, where an aerial target must be destroyed at high altitudes above the clouds.

Obriy 0.7.0#
Significantly improved the accuracy of target aircraft physics, added new aircraft, and introduced aircraft modifications with air defense capabilities.
Updated the minimap, and added the ability to rotate the azimuth of ground units.
Updated most maps, and added a new map between Orikhiv and Hulyaipole.
Optimized clouds and map loading.
Improved UI: a controller is now automatically detected when connected.
Aerial Targets
Target aircraft now move correctly relative to the surrounding air rather than perfectly relative to the ground. Aircraft are affected by wind and gusts. A firmware update determines the route and speed to optimize mission execution while considering wind strength. All aircraft move through the air at a speed of 20-30 m/s. During loitering, airspeed is minimal, while flying against the wind results in acceleration to overcome the wind.
Added Zala and Supercam aircraft. Zala is the most maneuverable but relatively slow. Supercam flies fast but turns very slowly.
Added aircraft modifications. A Zala with a rear-view camera starts weaving and gaining speed when it detects a drone, but it can only sustain maximum speed temporarily. Supercam with EW activates jamming when approached but can only maintain interference for a very short time.
Aerial targets now have more accurate collision detection. Landing on an airborne target is now almost possible, but the propellers are likely to break immediately.
Added a directional munition weighing 400g. The old directional munition, weighing 1.1 kg, has been updated.
Situational Awareness
The minimap now updates without delay.
The ground station can now be rotated. The antenna beam width is 60 degrees (the angle within which the signal remains above 50% of the maximum). Currently, the ground station rotates only by azimuth. Use the A and D keys to rotate it.
Landmarks can now be shown only on the map without On-Screen Display (OSD) visualization.
Interface
The joystick is now automatically detected immediately upon connection.
The license menu can now be accessed from the main menu, allowing license renewal without waiting for it to expire.
The license menu now includes a language selection button.
Maps
Added a new map between Hulyaipole and Orikhiv—Hulyaipilske.
Many existing maps have been repositioned to cover at least 5 km of friendly territory.
Clouds now use significantly fewer GPU resources.
Maps now load approximately twice as fast, especially noticeable in urban areas.
0.6.*#
Obriy 0.6.3#
Added a minimap. The minimap can be opened using the M key (English layout) or in a separate window via Shift+M. It displays the following objects:
Ground station (altitude above sea level)
The drone, if equipped with GPS and not affected by EW (altitude above sea level)
All landmarks
All enemy aerial targets (altitude above sea level, speed, direction)
If GPS reception is available with at least seven satellites, the minimap will follow the drone—this can be disabled via a button in the corner of the map. The map can be dragged using the left mouse button and zoomed with the scroll wheel. Its position on the screen can be changed by opening it in a separate window and moving it freely, optionally to a second monitor.
Added GPS simulation. Drones with stabilized cameras have GPS by default, while FPV drones can be optionally equipped with GPS. The installed GPS sensor is highly resistant to interference but will still register zero satellites when targeted by directional EW. Dome EW also affects GPS operation but usually does not completely jam it. Currently, GPS data is displayed only when the minimap is enabled.
Added EW tanks, tanks with slat armor, and with sheds. Attempting to penetrate a tank through the slat armor without specialized munitions (such as an explosively formed penetrator) is usually ineffective. The EW tank is equipped with both personal dome EW and slat armor.
Added 1.1 kg explosively formed penetrator (EFP) munition. This munition requires at least 5 meters of distance to form the penetrator core, which then travels straight for the next 145 meters. For this and cumulative munitions, enabling explosion visualization in the graphics settings is highly recommended. Once fully formed, the EFP can penetrate armor screens with minimal energy loss. Setting the camera angle to 0 and using a detonator initiation board is critical for this munition.
Added two new missions: "Recon Aircraft 3" on the Bakhmut map. This is the most difficult mission with aerial targets. The enemy aircraft's routes are unknown, they fly at high altitudes, EW is active, and GPS is effectively unavailable. Completing the mission without target designation via the minimap is impossible.
"Terny" on the Kreminna map. A recreation of the assault on the village of Terny on April 2. The enemy attacks the village with armored vehicles under the cover of an EW tank.
Obriy 0.6.2#
Fixed a bug where dragging an aerial target symbol reset its altitude to 1 meter.
Obriy 0.6.1#
Added propeller collision. Now, an individual propeller can be damaged if the drone crashes into something at a moderate speed. The drone now crashes and falls more realistically. Enemy infantry now first targets the propellers before disabling the drone’s controls.
This means that now, the drone has the following damage states:
Propeller damage (reduced propeller efficiency, currently only possible from infantry fire)
Propeller destruction (some propellers stop working entirely)
Loss of mobility (rotors no longer receive power)
Loss of control (complete radio failure)
Reworked sound effects. The new sound design is now more refined, making it unnecessary to mute audio on the first launch.
Other changes:
Fixed camera field of view, now it functions correctly. The FOV range has been adjusted to 40–140
Field of view and camera angle are now displayed immediately and no longer require a restart
Thermal camera now behaves more realistically
Destroyed vehicles now emit smoke correctly
Artillery strikes are now more random. In addition to gun artillery, rocket artillery has been added.
Fog is once again dependent on graphics settings
Fixed statistics for damaged vehicles
The howitzer has been renamed to SPG (self-propelled gun)
Obriy 0.6.0#
Aerial targets
Reworked tactical map
Friendly forces placement (currently without interaction with the enemy)
Landmarks, artillery strikes, destroyed vehicles
Seasons, time, weather
Drone control changes
Added 4 new regions (Donbas and Kursk)
Added 6 new missions, including missions with aerial targets and an experimental assault support mission.
Aerial Targets:
Added the ability to place enemy Orlan drones. Their flight speed between waypoints is 28 m/s, loitering speed is 24 m/s, and altitude can be adjusted in the menu. The loitering circle diameter is 280 meters.
Tactical Map:
Mouse controls has been redesigned. You can select symbols, adjust their parameters, and drag them to new locations. Multiple symbols can now be selected at once.
Added elevation map visualization.
You can choose the month, time, and weather.
Vehicles now have status indicators (operational, damaged, destroyed) and identification (friendly, enemy).
Precise coordinates can now be modified for already placed symbols.
Friendly Forces:
All vehicles can now also be friendly. Friendly vehicles can only be placed on neutral or friendly territory and are completely invulnerable. Any attempt to attack or approach friendly vehicles will always fail.
Exception: a friendly dome EW can be attacked.
Currently, friendly vehicles look identical to enemy ones.
Additional Tactical Markers:
A landmark is a text label visible during flight, useful for marking positions.
An artillery strike is the area around the symbol will be shelled by artillery, which can be used to simulate combat. Targets destroyed this way are not counted in statistics.
Status – vehicles now have an additional parameter, Status, allowing them to be damaged or destroyed. These vehicles cannot move but can serve as additional landmarks or obstacles for identifying real enemy targets. Damaged vehicles can be finished off.
Seasons, Time, Weather:
Added autumn and winter seasons. In November, all the trees turn yellow. From January to March, trees have no leaves. The map texture changes accordingly.
Sun's position is now astronomically accurate.
Added various weather conditions: clear, partly cloudy, overcast, stratiform clouds, fog, and rain. In rain, water accumulates on the camera lens, making FPV flight extremely difficult. Drones with stabilized cameras can mitigate this by avoiding looking at the horizon. Fog and rain affect radio signal losses, which also reduces EW effectiveness.
Drone Control Changes:
RSSI restored
Added "BOMB_DISARMED / BOMB_ARMED" indicator for detonator initiation boards.
The thermal camera has been reworked. It is still not fully complete and will continue to improve.
Separated propeller damage from total drone destruction. Detonator initiation is now possible even if the drone is no longer airborne.
Fixed battery status messages.
New Regions:
Ochertyne, Selydove, Sudzha, Korenevo.
Updated lines of contact.
The Avdiivka map has been restored to its original location. The line of contact has been removed from the map, allowing free symbol placement.
New Missions:
Two new "Recon Aircraft" missions: destroy an enemy reconnaissance aircraft. In the first mission, the aircraft loiters around a single point. In the second, the aircraft maneuvers, with radio and moderate wind effects added.
"Migratory Birds" mission: two flocks of aircraft migrate along the railway. Players can either fly alongside the drones or engage them. This mission serves as an example of placing eight aerial targets at once.
"Urgent Assistance (2024)" mission: an updated version of the old mission. New tactical markers and friendly targets have been added. Both enemy and friendly EW are active.
"Night Hunt" mission: locate and destroy an enemy APC at night. New markers are actively used, and an important element of the mission is correctly distinguishing between real targets and already destroyed vehicles.
Experimental "Combat Support" mission: escort friendly forces during a fire support task. Both friendly and enemy targets are present, and their behavior is not entirely predictable. The exact positions of the units are unknown, and all mission symbols are hidden. Designed for training multirotor reconnaissance drone pilots in simulated combat conditions. Artillery fire correction is optional.

Reworked the briefing menu. Camera controls are now MUCH more convenient, especially on laptops without a mouse
Fixed an issue where the reconnaissance drone would spin its propellers even before takeoff in disarm mode
Fixed the visualization of enemy targets in thermal imaging
Fixed an issue preventing missions from loading if the username contained Cyrillic characters
Fixed the "increase target vulnerability" option, which previously had no effect
The drone settings menu will no longer restart if no changes are made
