Situational Awareness

Situational Awareness#

Minimap opened in a separate window

Note

The situational map is available starting from Obriy version 0.6.3

At present, situational awareness is one of the key tools for drone crews. This task typically falls under the responsibility of the navigator. Strike drone crews usually use situational awareness solely for target identification, while reconnaissance drone crews actively relay information into the systems.

Minimap#

Note

Obriy simulates situational awareness primarily for air-to-air scenarios

Situational awareness in Obriy is simulated using the minimap. The minimap is opened with the M key and appears in the bottom-left corner. Pressing Shift+M opens the minimap in a separate window. This allows you to:

  • Move the minimap to any location on the screen and resize it freely;
  • Open the minimap on a second monitor.

If the drone has GPS, the minimap will, by default, follow the drone. This can be disabled with a button in the bottom right corner. The minimap will also stop following the drone if there are too few satellites or if it is manually moved.

The minimap can be moved using the mouse. The scroll wheel adjusts the zoom level.

The minimap also visualizes the direction of the ground control antenna. You can change the antenna direction using the A and D keys.

Note

The minimap is not required to rotate the antenna, but it is useful for visualization.

The current implementation of the minimap visualizes the following markers:

  • The ground control station and its orientation
  • The drone's position, if GPS and sufficient satellite signal are available
  • All landmarks placed on the tactical map
  • All aerial targets

Artillery Adjustment#

There is an additional tool that allows for artillery adjustment, which is especially important for reconnaissance drones.

You can open the adjustment menu with the Q key.

To perform a strike, you need to enter the target's coordinates in the WGS84 format and press the fire button. A detonation will occur at the specified coordinates in approximately 15 seconds. If the hit was not sufficiently effective, you can adjust subsequent shots in meters to the north and east.
